Mongabay Reporting Network seeks stories on great apes and industrial agriculture

Journalists can apply for a paid reporting initiative.

The Mongabay Reporting Network is a program that provides opportunities for journalists around the world to report on key conservation stories.

The reporting initiative is commissioning stories on the innovative researchers who are facilitating the successful integration of great apes into the changing agricultural landscapes of Asia and Africa.

Selected journalists will produce articles guided by the Arcus Foundation’s book, “State of the Apes 2015: Industrial Agriculture and Ape Conservation,” that challenges the notion that the goals of industrial agriculture and ape conservation are mutually exclusive. They must supplement this research with phone/email interviews with primatologists, conservationists, NGOs and/or officials on the frontlines of great ape protection.

Contributors can work from anywhere in the world. No travel is required.

The deadline is March 15.
