Fellowship focuses on technology policy

Researchers, graduate students and others can apply to spend four weeks in Rio de Janeiro.

The Institute for Technology and Society (ITS Rio) will host the Global Policy Fellowship Program July 4 to Aug. 1 in Brazil.

Fellows will focus one of the ITS broad areas, including law, democracy and technology; access to technology, justice and human rights; Internet regulation and governance; privacy and data protection; rethinking culture, media and education.

The program includes visits to technology national and international companies operating in Brazil, the Brazilian Internet Steering Committee (CGI.br) and trips to São Paulo and Brasília, featuring meetings with representatives of the Ministry of Justice, Ministry of Culture and Congress members who are advocating for policies related to Internet and technology.

The fellowship covers air tickets to São Paulo and Brasília as well as accommodations in São Paulo and Brasília. However, participants must be responsible for their international travel costs and accomodations in Rio de Janeiro.

The deadline is March 20.
