Journalists who have published their work in Latin American or Caribbean news outlets in 2014 can compete.
Transparency International and the Instituto Prensa y Sociedad organize the Latin American Investigative Journalism Award. The award’s purpose is to encourage greater transparency in government, business and media.
Investigative stories on any topic of public interest in English, Spanish or Portuguese are eligible. Print, online, television and radio reports are all eligible, and reporters can submit work done independently or in teams.
The first, second and third place winners will receive US$15,000, US$10,000 and US$5,000, respectively. Authors of the best investigative reports will also be invited to the 2015 Latin American Investigative Journalism Conference on Nov. 20 to 23 in Lima, Peru.
The deadline is Aug. 17.
