Print, television, radio and online journalists can apply for an environmental reporting prize.
The Knight-Risser Prize in Western Environmental Journalism recognizes excellence in reporting on environmental issues and stories in the North American West. The prize seeks to encourage sophisticated reporting, solid environmental science and compelling storytelling, and make environmental research, scholarship and teaching relevant to the real world.
Submissions should focus on issues pertaining to the environment, such as water policy and climate change, and how those issues impact western North America. While the stories entered for consideration should be focused in the west, the prize is not limited to journalists living in those areas. Any journalist from Canada, the United States and Mexico is eligible to apply.
The prize will be presented at the annual Knight-Risser Prize Symposium at Stanford University. Winners will receive US$5,000.
The deadline for submissions is March 15.
