U.S. undergraduate or graduate students pursuing degrees at the intersection of journalism, computer science and new media can apply for a fellowship.
The AP-Google Journalism and Technology Scholarship program will award two students with a US$7,500 scholarship each. Half of the award will be granted in the first semester. The remainder will be awarded in the second semester upon proof of project proposal update and maintenance of a 3.0 GPA.
The scholarships are open to college sophomores or higher with at least one year of full-time undergraduate or graduate study remaining. Students from diverse backgrounds, as well as those attending rural-area institutions, are strongly encouraged to apply. In addition, a select number of scholarships will be based on financial need.
Applicants must submit a project or concept that explains how his or her strategy moves digital journalism forward.
The deadline for the 2014-15 academic year is Feb. 21.
