African Union hosts documentary contest

Audiovisual journalists who are citizens of the member states of the African Union can submit their works to this contest.

The African Union Video Documentary Media Awards seek to work with the media to reach all corners of the African continent with news and views about African development issues.

The contest’s thematic area is “Women’s Empowerment and Development Towards Agenda 2063” as well as any major project and programs of the African Union Commission in line with the vision “Agenda 2063, my Agenda” and “The Africa we want.”

Works in English, French, Portuguese and Arabic will be accepted.

Winners will be selected from each of five regions of the continent: Southern, Central, East, West and North Africa. Each winner will receive US$7,000.

The deadline is Oct. 31.
